Baguio City is known as the summer capital of the Philippines, located 1,540 meters above sea level in the mountainous region of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The city has spectacular panoramic views of the Cordillera mountains and valleys. Its scenery is marked by an abundance of pine trees, earning it the nickname "City of Pines."

The United States erected it as a hill station in 1900, making it Asia's only American hill station. This era influenced much of its urban planning and architecture.
